Rappelling in Nahal Tamar South of the Dead Sea
Nahal Tamar is located in the south of the Dead Sea. It is suitable for a trip all year round and is also suitable for beginners or groups who want to enjoy the challenge but do not want to start with too difficult a challenge. The maximum abseiling height in the nahal is 20 meters and is therefore also suitable for families with children who are not grown up, work groups on a formation day and groups who want to try the experience. The route combines cliff surfing and a short and interesting hike.
The route begins by walking from the top of the route into the stream. The level of difficulty is low, and the Nahal Canyon is beautiful. Along the route, several descents are carried out with the help of ropes and a fixed metal ladder, and then you can start skiing along the first waterfall, which is 14 meters high. The second waterfall in the south allows an abseiling experience at a height of 22 meters. The advantage of this route is that you can skip the gliding and go down on foot instead, which can be suitable for groups that have participants who prefer not to experience the abseiling but want to participate in the trip.

Description of the activity on the Nahal Tamar route
Nahal Tamar, located in the north of the Arava, is a short, challenging and beautiful hiking trail, the length of the trail is 1 kilometer. At the starting point, you will be met by professional guides from Ashdot, who will give you an organized briefing. At this stage, you will receive abseiling equipment that will serve you during the trip. All the equipment is reliable and of high quality and undergoes a careful inspection before every departure to the track.
If you come with a private vehicle, it is necessary to leave a vehicle at the Ein Tamar pumping station at the end of the route. Having a vehicle that will take us back to the starting point, a distance of about 3 minutes drive, is better.
From the monument we will go down a steep and marked path into the Nahal Tamar stream, after that we will start to descend the waterfalls in Nahal Tamar. The Nature and Parks Authority (RETG) built convenient handles and handrails that allow for an easy and safe descent after the first waterfall. We descend with the help of a large, stable, and safe ladder installed in the first waterfall in the stream. The height of the waterfall is 10 m. This waterfall can be skimmed or descend from the side using the ladder immediately afterward. We descend two more waterfalls using the handrails installed in them. And we will reach the last and highest waterfall in the Tamar Valley. The height of the waterfall is 18 m. This waterfall can also be bypassed and descended with the help of a comfortable and safety ladder that is usually installed.
The activity in Nahal Tamar can also be suitable for bar mitzvah trips because the route is challenging and interesting but can be suitable for families, children and groups. It is also possible to plan a customized day trip for the group so that everyone can enjoy the activity and the challenge in Nahal Tamar
